CSB Concept

To meet the goals of the Integrated Research and Treatment Centers – to create an attractive internal environment for top-rate clinical research, to create better career opportunities for the new generation of scientists, and to achieve high quality in patient-oriented research – the Center for Stroke Research Berlin has developed modules of bundled interactive measures.
Modules

To meet the goals of the Integrated Research and Treatment Centers – to create an attractive internal environment for top-rate clinical research, to create better career opportunities for the new generation of scientists, and to achieve high quality in patient-oriented research – the CSB has developed modules of bundled interactive measures.
Management Module
An efficient administration under the Managing Director frees scientists to concentrate on research and treatment. Project managers accompany management processing projects on performance indicators, quality controls and communication strategies as well as IT projects. The internal allocation of flexible funds according to defined criteria enables the CSB to respond to new discoveries and developments.
Health Care Module
The Health Care Module includes the establishment of the Berlin Stroke Alliance (BSA e.V.), a consortium of 40 research and provider entities, and others. Moreover, the BSA is developing a Stroke Management Research System in cooperation with consultants and external service providers to record patient flow, data collection and evaluation. Since February 2015, the Berlin Stroke Alliance is a registered non-profit organization.
Trial Management Module
The Trial Team supports CSB's scientists in preparing and carrying out clinical stroke studies. With its effective quality management it guarantees a constantly high level in its patient-oriented research.
iCSB (Imaging@CSB) Module
Non-invasive neuro-imaging is a key technology in the translative stroke research at CSB. A broad spectrum of modalities and expertise has been assembled. CSB seeks to fuse preclinical and clinical stroke imaging activity and is building a new platform: iCSB ("imaging@CSB"). It serves the intensive exchange taking place among experts from the various groups and enables the exploitation of synergies between different imaging technologies.
Clinical Epidemiology Module
Epidemiology deals with the causes and spread of disease and other health problems. "Clinical Epedemiology in Stroke" applies epidemiologic methods to answer questions that rise in the context of patient care. The goal is to make an important contribution to improving health sciences in the field of stroke using the procedures and methods of clinical epidemiology.
Research Groups Module
The CSB research groups conduct basic, disease-oriented and patient-oriented stroke-relevant research at the Charité. The research is interdisciplinary, with neurologists, cardiologists, radiologists, immunologists and rehabilitation providers interacting in common projects. In all phases of a project, the CSB serves as a resource platform (experimental labs, trial team, training, regulating access to patients).
Experimental Lab Module
The Experimental Neurology Department has assigned a large part of its resources to the CSB. Other participating entities have contributed further relevant resources, so that broad methodological know-how, a plethora of models and state of the art equipment are available for preclinical stroke research.
